The new Alchemy Community

The Interactive Alchemy team has been hard at work for quite a while now, and we've decided it's time to poke our heads up from behind our computers and start sharing our expertise with the developer community. To get things moving, we've made a few, small Web site enhancements we hope you'll enjoy.

First, we've created the Alchemy Community page, which currently lists projects we've made available as open source. We recently released DebugIt (originally created by Alchemy developer Robert Hoekman, Jr.), a Flash debugging tool that enables developers to trace data outside of the Flash authoring environment while an application is running in its shell, and the MovieClipLoader6, which is a Flash player 6 compatible implementation of Flash player 7's MovieClipLoader class. Both tools have a low learning curve and have proven themselves very valuable for the Alchemy team. We've decided to share the wealth by offering them both to the community as open source projects.

The Alchemy Community page also currently offers a poll so you can vote on what you'd like to learn from us in a one- to two-hour, live online workshop. We plan to organize a short workshop within the next month or two and shed some light on some of the tougher issues we face while trying to create custom, quality learning experiences.

As you've probably realized (by simply reading this page), we've also added a blog to our web site. Stop by often to see what the Alchemy team is up to and what we're thinking about. Naturally, we'll also be sure to let you know when new open source projects become available.

With that, we send you off to enjoy the new Alchemy Community!
